On Western Lake Ontario we are fortunate to have an inter-club racing series specifically for Short Handed sailors.  The entries are limited to boats that are being single handed or that have only 2 sailors aboard.  Our club, Queen City Yacht Club has been an enthusiastic participant in the Lake Ontarion Short Handed Sailors (LOSHS) racing series and are hosting the first race of the season June 3rd. 

My husband and I are considering entering 4 or 5 of the races this year.  The Port Credit to Port Dalhousie races look particularly interesting.  It would allow us to practice sailing for longer distances together.  Good practice for cruising.
