I have posted before that we are looking to replace our aging cushions in the V berth.  While investigating options I came across a possible solution:  buy a king size, latex and foam mattress from IKEA and recut it to the fit the V berth.

Last night we went to IKEA and spent about 30 minutes laying on the floor on the mattress.  If you like a firm, but not hard, mattress this has possibilities.  The mattress cover even has a zippered opening so it is easy to remove the foam.  This comes in 3 layers: latex, foam and latex.  They are glued together.  We think we can use a bread knife to recut the mattress to the shape of the V berth.

This weekend we plan to create a pattern of theV berth and we will see how this works out.
