We are safely out of the water for the winter.  We have the usual winterizing to do, but Hot Tamale sits safely in her cradle in our boat yard.  I have mentioned in previous articles that we use a marine railway at our club to haul and launch boats.  It always seems like an accomplishment when 50 of you have to work together to move a boat.

We are writing our winter projects list.  Chief among them is the new V berth mattress.  We priced professional mattresses at the Annapolis Sailboat Show.  Excellent mattresses, but the price is CDN $2,000 plus.   We aren't living aboard, yet, and so are loath to spend that much.

We are thinking of using an IKEA king size latex foam mattress and cutting it to fit the Vberth.  Does anyone have any experience with this?
